Vision + Action = A Changed World
This morning, as Brenda and I sat together for our daily devotions, we came across a quote that stopped us in our tracks:
“Vision without action is merely a dream.
Action without vision is a nightmare!
But vision combined with action can change the world.”
I couldn’t help but think of David’s Refuge, how it began, how it has grown, and the countless lives it continues to touch. When Brenda and I first felt the stirrings of a vision to care for parents of children with special needs, it was tender, fragile, and honestly a little intimidating. It would have been easy to keep it as a dream, something beautiful, but safely tucked away where it couldn’t demand anything of us.
But love insisted on action.
And action grounded in vision is powerful. It’s clarifying. It’s energizing. It keeps you moving even when the road ahead is steep.
David’s Refuge exists today because a vision, that every parent caring for a child with special needs would know they are not alone, that what they do matters, and that there is a God and a community who loves them was paired with the courage to act. And every volunteer, donor, board member, and family who has joined this mission has added their own action to that vision.
The result? Not just a dream. Not just a flurry of activity. But real, tangible change. Hope restored. Marriages strengthened. Parents lifted up. Community formed.
Vision matters. Action matters.
But together, they become a force God can use to transform lives.
My prayer today for myself, for David’s Refuge, and for anyone reading is that we would hold both tightly: the God-given vision that stirs our hearts, and the faithful action that brings it to life.
Because when those two walk hand in hand, the world doesn’t just shift.
It changes.
